The simple wardrobe
A wardrobe should be simple, practical and fashionable (by your own standards, of course).Casual - simple, functional and practical
The casual part of my wardrobe is very eclectic - I can assemble a 1990's grunge era look with the same items I go camping in or throw on for a party with friends. I've used this part of my wardrobe to dress as pirate and a hippie for Halloween. I'm not sure if that's saying anything good about my clothes, however...- Pants (jeans and cargos)
- Short sleeve shirts (t-shirts and button-ups)
- Long sleeve shirts (button-ups and pull-overs)
- Jacket (should go with pretty much any outfit)
- Belt (one black, one brown)
- Shoes (brown boots, canvas slip-ons)
Work - stylish, traditional and comfortable
This is the portion of my wardrobe I always struggle with. I find men's dress clothes to be very uncomfortable and up-tight. Since my day job requires a suit and tie, I'm always trying to find better items I won't hate wearing for 10 hours straight - I have yet to find anything I truly love.
- Suits (one black, one blue, one brown)
- Shirts (two white, two pattern, two colored)
- Belt (one black, one brown/burgundy)
- Shoes (one black, one brown/burgundy)
- *Style tip = Belts and shoes should match; i.e. brown belt along with brown shoes. More on this and other tips later on...)
Base - soft, nonrestrictive and durable
I know it's just underwear, but it's important. These items are usually the easiest to find favorites for since there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of variety available. I have both V-neck and regular t-shirts, but I prefer the V. Underwear is a personal matter (and varies on your outfit and activity; i.e. Boxers are not the best choice if your running.
- Undershirts (V-necks and regular, White)
- Underwear (boxers and boxer-briefs)
- Socks (athletic, dress and casual)
- Handkerchiefs (casual and dress)
